Government Linked University (GLU)  is a university association owned by Government-Owned Enterprises in Malaysia. Currently, Malaysia’s GLU members comprises of four universities, namely Univerisiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP), Multimedia University (MMU), Universiti Kuala Lumpur (UniKL), and University Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN).

5th GOVERNMENT LINKED UNIVERSITY (GLU) MANAGEMENT FORUM 2021 was held on Wednesday, 8th  September 2021 at 09.00 am to 12.00 noon (Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia Time) virtually throught Microsoft Teams, the theme “ Sustainable University in the New Norms” with panelist : Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Haji Syed Zainal Abidin Syed Mohamed Tahir (Group Managing Director, Dagang Nexchange Berhad), Prof. Dr. Ir. Iwa Garniwa Mulyana (Rector, Institut Teknologi PLN (Representative Of Aperti Bumn), Prof. Dr. Lawrence Loh (Director, Centre For Governance & Sustainability National University Of Singapore Business School), Mr. Izham Ab Wahab (Head, Group Human Capital, Drb-Hicom Berhad)

This Webinar opens with welcoming speech from PROF. Ts. Dr. Mohamed Ibrahim Abdul Mutalib Vice Chancellor, Universiti Teknologi Petronas & Chairman Of Glu Council. Prof Mohamed Ibrahim Abdul said the GLU Management Forum 2021 is conducted with objectives to serve as a platform for knowledge-sharing, networking and exchange of ideas between GLU top management, academic leaders and industry captains; and to create a synergy for business and management best practices. The forum is not so much about presenting perfect solutions but rather about sharing experiences wisdom and lessons learnt on strategies and initiatives in supporting and spearheading the National Education Agenda in light of the current pandemic. Together, Universiti Kuala Lumpur, Universiti Tenaga Nasional, Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS and Multimedia University have produced almost 130,000 graduates who are now industry experts and leaders in their own right. The establishment of GLU collaboration, especially in defining roles, rebranding, consolidating resources, developing the right ecosystem and strategies is highly important to ensure sustainability and growth, and in support of the national agenda.

To start the session, moderator drive some questions to the panelist which are related to the theme. In the essence of time and to ensure a comprehensive response from the panelist, each panelist given about 2 minutes to respond to each of the questions, with discussion to be moderated by a moderator. The questions domains are: Systemic Disruption, Dynamic Capabilities, Business Sustainability: A Pragmatic Approach, University Core Missions in the new normal and the Trinity of university corporation and community. 

Prof Iwa conveyed how in the future we must be ready to face learning in the new normal era, we must be ready to run blended learning. We need to take advantage of the pillars of revolution 4.0: IoT, Big Data, Augmented Reality, Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Computing. For Applied Research we also need to use simulation.
We need to enhance the skills of all lecturers and staff to face learning in the new normal.
